Welcome to the website of the Leuven Institute for Ireland in Europe, located in the historic Irish College.

As well as offering information about our facilities, it is intended that this site will offer an insight into the vibrant life and culture of the Institute and its wider network.

Whether you are coming to the Institute to celebrate an event, attend a conference, take part in a study programme or trace the path of Irish history, we hope that you enjoy your stay with us.

Highly regarded as a valuable resource to maximise the opportunities of EU membership, the Leuven Institute for Ireland in Europe is also a place where Irish culture and music are celebrated. We are always open to new ideas and we very much welcome any feedback on our activities.

In 1607 when the Franciscans founded the Irish College, they wanted to create a centre of learning for Irish people in Europe. The mission of the Institute is to continue to offer a centre of learning in the heart of Europe for all learners.
